Higher Ground

Welcome to Higher Ground Youth Ministries. We are a high energy, Bible believing, fun-loving, yet God-fearing, down to earth, but heavenly minded youth group.

Why are you called Higher Ground?

Besides being named after a cool song (Stevie Wonder and Red Hot Chili Peppers) it does have a deeper meaning. Our ministry takes teens out of this sinful world and puts them up on Higher Ground–a safe haven, where they can get out of the muck of every day life and where we teach them to stay out of it by giving them the tools and teachings from the Bible.

What do you do in Higher Ground?

A normal Wednesday night would look like this:

  • Start off the night with some worship
  • Open discussion about current news and world events
  • Play some kind of crazy, messy, or funny game
  • Then give a Bible-based message that applies to issues we face daily

We also have Sunday morning Bible studies, yearly retreats, and have a night on the town once a month.

When does Higher Ground get together?

We have our Wednesday night meetings at 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM and each Sunday we have “Morning Glory” Bible study immediately following worship during the main service.

Where does Higher Ground meet?

We meet at the Lord’s Grace of Downey, upstairs in Rooms 6 and 7. We look forward to meeting you and your family.

“We are here to honor and obey God by gathering together to reach and to serve His community.”
